Dentures have been around for a very long time. And based on archeological findings, they appear to be one of the oldest tooth replacement options still available today. However, dentures have come a long way over the centuries!
Today’s modern dentures in San Jose look and function like natural teeth. There is no boxy appearance to the denture teeth. In fact, people will not even know you’re wearing dentures.
Modern Dentures in San Jose
Our modern dentures and partials begin with a consultation. If it’s determined during this visit that dentures are a good option for you, we take impressions and use the results to create a denture to specification—meaning it will fit your mouth comfortably, complement your smile, and function as intended.
Partial and Complete Dentures
Partial dentures work well for partial tooth loss. In this situation, your dentist creates a custom arch or plate that holds only the needed teeth to fill your smile gap. The partial denture depends on healthy remaining teeth, special clips, gravity, and the natural ridges of your jaw to stay in place.
A complete denture fills in when all teeth are lost or extracted. The complete denture uses suction, gravity, and the natural bony ridges of your jaw for stabilization.
Denture Care
We recommend soaking your denture daily or overnight in a plastic container called a denture bath. The water should be at room temperature. You can add a cleaning tablet purchased at your local store to help kill germs and keep your denture healthy.
Some toothpaste is too harsh for dentures, but you can find denture pastes and special cleaning brushes at the drugstore to clean your prosthetic as well.

Full tooth replacement does not mean you don’t have to visit the dentist. You should still make appointments for exams and teeth cleanings every six months.
