Insurance Options

We work with most insurance companies to maximize your benefits. Our team will file your claims and submit the necessary documentation for you, taking the stress out of receiving your benefits. Each plan is different. We can submit a pre-treatment estimate to determine your out-of-pocket expenses.

Insurance can help with your dental expenses but rarely covers 100 percent of treatment beyond regular preventive appointments. Your dental coverage is a contract between you and your insurance company and plans can vary widely.

You are welcome to give our office a call to discuss your insurance plan and what to expect when you seek treatment in our office. Our knowledgeable team is here to assist you!

Frequently Asked Questions

This pandemic is something new to all of us, and the only way to get through it is to work together.  While we are doing all that we can to make the office safe for all, there are a few small things you, the patient, can do to help us out.

If you are feeling feverish or experiencing any flu-like symptoms, we ask that you refrain from coming into the office.  Instead, give us a call ahead of time and we will be more than happy to reschedule your appointment a few weeks out.  Additionally, if you have traveled or been in contact with anyone who has traveled, please wait at least two weeks before coming into the office to make sure that you are not exhibiting any signs of COVID infection.

All California residents are recommended to wear masks when leaving the house regardless, and we would encourage the same when coming into the office.  Now of course, we cannot work on you with the mask on, but you can at least wear it while checking in and when heading out.  We also ask that after checking in, you wait in your car of outside until we call you to let you know we are ready for you.

Finally, please refrain from bringing too many family members with you too your appointment if they do not have an appointment themselves.  We would like to reduce crowding in the office as much as possible to avoid patient-patient interaction.

As long as we all do our part and remain aware of our surroundings and effect on it, we will be able to continue slowing the spread of COVID-19 and hopefully return to life as normal!

Advanced Dentistry by Design has always been very diligent about maintaining a high level of cleanliness and maintaining a sterile environment.  However, we understand that different times call for different measures and will therefore be implementing additional protocols to make sure our patients and staff feel as safe as possible.  For information on our existing and new health and safety protocols, check out our blog on how we're getting the office ready for re-opening, linked below:

We will continually be updating and improving our standards as we receive more information from the government and California Dental Association.

We have been closely monitoring the COVID situation and shelter in place updates from both our governor and local and national dental associations to determine when the best time to open the practice back up is and under what conditions.

While it may be some time until we are able to get back up and running at full capacity, we are hoping to be able to at least open up with a limited schedule in the coming weeks.  This means that we will resume conducting elective procedures and exams as normal, but will limit the schedule to reduce large crowds of patients in the office.  We will also be implementing new protocols to ensure a safe environment for our patients and staff.

Until then, Advanced Dentistry by Design is still receiving emergency calls and seeing emergency patients on a case-by-case basis.  If you are having dental pain or swelling, please do not hesitate to call our office at (408)258-5054 and press 1 to be directed to the emergency voicemail.

One of the things that sets Victor D. Woodlief, DMD, apart from many other dentists is that he believes that collaboration with other professionals such as pediatricians, otolaryngologists, neurologists, orthopedists, osteopathic physicians, and chiropractors, which affords him the ability to provide more personalized and effective treatment for our patients.

He regularly meets and discusses holistic health topics to expand his own knowledge and create effective treatment plans for patients facing complex or unique conditions.

Whether or not you will need to visit a specialist depends on your individual needs and goals for your oral health and wellness. Simply put, we want to give you the very best care possible. While we treat most conditions effectively here in our San Jose dental office, if we feel that you will benefit from a trip to a specialist, we will refer you to someone we trust. Dr. Woodlief works with some of the leaders in their fields and has a great relationship with the San Jose medical and wellness community.

If you do visit a specialist, you can count on Dr. Woodlief to follow up on your care, ensuring that you get the same great patient care you receive in our office and that all parties involved stay well informed about your case.

Whether you wear braces or not, protecting your smile while playing sports is tremendously important. Mouthguards help protect your teeth and gums from injury, and picking the right one is essential. There are three basic types of mouthguards: the pre-made mouthguard, the “boil-and-bite” fitted mouthguard, and a custom-made mouthguard.

Our office specializes in working with athletes to create customized performance mouthguards that help improve breathing, which in turn can help improve strength, agility, and balance—just ask!

Read more about customized performance mouthguards in Dr. Woodlief’s interview on Sports and Dentistry.
